If you are able to help out in the morning, we could really use some extra help with drop off. We continue to have some parents drop students off at the red curb instead of the 2nd parking lot. There are also many cars that do not pull all the way forward in the parking lot before their child exits the car. This creates an unsafe situation and backs up the carline further. It would be ideal to have one parent available in the parking lot to help students get out of cars/keep the line moving and one parent on the sidewalk reminding parents to drop off in the parking lot. We appreciate your support!

This week, I will wrap up a school-wide read aloud to address some body boundary issues we continue to have across the grade levels. I am reading Body Boundaries Make Me Stronger by Elizabeth Cole. This book focuses on the idea of personal space and refusing unwanted touch. I felt it necessary to push out a consistent message to all students that touching, exposing, and/or talking about private body parts at school is not allowed. So far, the read aloud has sparked great conversations in the classrooms I've visited.
If you are interested in seeing the book yourself, I am attaching a link to a read aloud on YouTube.

We are looking for members from our community that are interested in spotlighting their careers. Our AVID team would like to collect short videos (less than 5 minutes) that tell what the career is, how it helps the community/society, whether a college degree is required, etc. On the job footage would be great. We will push these videos out to the classrooms to watch. Please email Mrs. Tosi if you are interested ~ tosij@mdusd.org. |

VOLUNTEERS All volunteers must follow district guidelines before volunteering in your classrooms. Volunteers must be fingerprinted and TB tested. We are keeping a list of approved volunteers for our school in the office. Click HERE to go to MDUSD's Volunteer page. *COVID vaccination status is no longer required.

Every Child, Every Day! Whatever it takes! Our mission is to build and inspire a community of successful scholars. We will support our diverse community with respect, equitable opportunities and culturally rich experiences.
We are an AVID school! AVID means Advancement Via Individual Determination, otherwise known as moving up through your own hard work. We will continue to teach students strategies for Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading (WICOR) in order to help them be college and career ready.
Thursdays are "Wear College Gear" days. If your child has any college gear, have them wear it to class. |
